Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Short version: Your focus data stays on your device — no account, no background tracking of your activity. The one exception is entirely optional and entirely up to you: if you choose to take our in-app survey, your anonymous answers are sent to us, and an email address is sent only if you separately opt into our newsletter. You can skip the survey, and you can delete your response at any time.

1. What stays on your device

Your focus profiles, session history, block lists, in-app statistics, and settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us:

We have no access to any of it. FocusLock has no crash reporting and does not track which sites you block, how long you focus, or how you use the app day to day. The full source code is public on GitHub — you can verify this yourself.

2. Software updates

FocusLock periodically checks for updates by contacting our update server and the GitHub API. This request includes your operating system and CPU architecture (e.g. "windows-x86_64") and your current FocusLock version number. No personally identifiable information is included. Your IP address is visible to the update server as part of the normal HTTP request, but it is not logged or stored.

3. Optional in-app survey

From time to time FocusLock may invite you to take a short, voluntary survey about how you use it (for example: age range, profession, country, how you found FocusLock, what you block, and feedback). You can decline, and declining never affects how the app works.

4. Optional newsletter

At the end of the survey you may choose to receive occasional email updates. Only if you opt in and confirm consent do we collect your email address. It is sent to our newsletter provider, Beehiiv (a third-party processor), and is kept separate from your anonymous survey answers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

5. No account, no payments

FocusLock does not require an account to download or use, and it is completely free — we do not process payments or collect financial information.

6. Children's privacy

The survey is anonymous for everyone. If a respondent indicates they are under 18, the newsletter email opt-in is not offered, so no identifiable contact information is ever collected from a minor.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Changes will also be reflected in the GitHub repository.

8. Contact

Privacy questions, or to request deletion of survey or newsletter data: me@oscarpetrikas.com or open an issue on GitHub.
